Quick facts

  • Name: Kratika Yadav
  • From: Indore, Madhya Pradesh
  • Education: Science graduate
  • Before Kraftshala: Flipkart seller-support associate (BPO)
  • Program: Kraftshala PGP in AI-Led Sales, Marketing & Business
  • Placed in: Nestlé as Sales Executive Trainee (secondary & tertiary sales)
  • Currently working in: Perusal as Senior Sales Development Representative

A layoff in May 2023 gave Kratika Yadav the pause she needed to rethink her career. A science graduate who’d found she loved talking to sellers in a BPO role, she chose a job-linked sales program over a two-year MBA – and landed at Nestlé.

How did you get here?

I’m a science graduate. After graduation I started working in the BPO industry. In May 2023, while I was at Teleperformance, I got laid off – and that’s when I got time to figure things out. I came across Kraftshala’s PGP in AI-Led Sales, Marketing & Business  program. I was looking to enhance my skills, so I joined.

What did your BPO experience teach you?

As a Flipkart seller-support associate, I really enjoyed the work even though it was hectic. I enjoyed talking to sellers and learning how e-commerce works.

That’s how I discovered I’m made for sales, not for science.

Why not an MBA?

Three reasons: time, speed and ROI. An MBA takes two years and it’s slow. You can learn a lot from ChatGPT now, but you can’t get hands-on experience or learn directly from industry experts. And on ROI – even paying lakhs, I might get an ₹8-9 LPA package where I couldn’t really use what I learned.

I didn’t want to follow the crowd. I wanted skills along with hands-on experience and a chance to learn from industry experts.

How did Kraftshala help you switch careers?

The skills I had came with experience – relationship building, communication. But to understand what B2B FMCG sales actually is, Kraftshala’s PGP in AI-Led Sales, Marketing & Business was where I learned it by doing. We worked with TSS, and that’s how I learned how FMCG companies operate and how sales happens. Kraftshala gave me functional and practical skills, plus the human and interview skills required.

What did you learn in the program?

The modules are B2B, FMCG and e-commerce. In B2B, Fahad sir taught us very well using his platform TurboHire, and we learned negotiation skills alongside. For FMCG it was a whole new experience – with the theoretical sessions, we were learning practical skills on the field, shadowing the team, working with ASMs, and seeing how distributors build relationships with retailers and merchandisers.

It was very new for me, but interesting. We had fun along with the learning.

How was your overall experience?

It started with the admission counselor, who helped me sort out my confusion before enrolling. Everybody at Kraftshala is very helpful. The schedule was hectic – continuous classes, assignments, assessments – but the people I met made it fun.

Placement was easy-peasy for me: I interviewed for three companies and got a call from Nestlé. They prepared us a lot – lots of mock interviews. Even if you scored under 70 in a mock, you’d get another chance with detailed feedback. We even interviewed each other, and had small group coachings with a human skills trainer.

What was the Nestlé interview like?

It was a panel interview with one round. One interviewer asked a situation-based question – how I’d handle a teammate who keeps repeating mistakes – and confused me with many cross-questions. I thought I’d messed up. But I took a few minutes, controlled my thoughts, and answered in a way that impressed him. He said, ‘Yes, this is what I wanted to hear.’

If you’re ever confused during an interview, it’s very important to take some time and think.

How were the Excel and LinkedIn sessions?

The Excel experts taught us exactly what’s required for a sales role – the formulas and everything. That’s what differentiates this program from an MBA: you learn what’s required. For LinkedIn, we learned how to build a strong profile and use Sales Navigator for outreach. A tier-two MBA might teach a whole Excel course, but not all of it is required.

What’s your role at Nestlé?

Sales Executive Trainee. I’ll handle secondary and tertiary sales for my allotted territory and my sales target, plus new business development and managing the sales team and merchandisers – sharing reports and data with them.

What did your parents say?

They were very happy – my father especially. He canceled his business trip, came back, and said we’d celebrate together. They supported me throughout and never questioned the program: ‘If you want to do it, just go for it.’

Your advice to future students?

Just give it your hundred percent. You’ll get a hundred percent support from everybody – the faculty, the student support team. So the only thing required is you giving your hundred percent.

The program in one line?

A mini-MBA specialized in AI-led sales, business and marketing, where you learn things by doing them. It’s worth the time and money – the ROI I got is something I don’t think any tier-two or even tier-one MBA college would have given me.
